Wraysbury is three miles NW of Staines and about midway between Windsor and Staines. Confusingly for long-term residents of the village, until 1974 it was administered by Buckinghamshire, then between 1974 and 1998 Berkshire County Council and now by the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.

Wraysbury has an abundance of wildlife and opportunities for walks and has a few Sites of Special Scientific Interest including Wraysbury Reservoir, which is in Spelthorne.

Wraysbury Nature Reserve has come a long way from its humble beginnings, starting life as a gravel pit in the 1920’s. Over the years, the pits were colonised by plants, insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals. The area is popular with carp fishermen with specimens as large as 50lb being caught.

Wraysbury diving centre is a popular location for scuba divers of all levels of experience and those wishing to learn to dive, they are open seven days a week all throughout the year.

Wraysbury has two railway stations, Wraysbury and Sunnymeads, both on the line from Windsor to London Waterloo journey times into London are around 45-minutes.
